Security Screener Checks at Providence, R.I., Airport Yield Eight Arrests
The Providence (RI) Journal

Federal and state law enforcement agents have screened more than 4,000
workers who have access to secure areas at T.F. Green Airport and found
eight with immigration violations.

The Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested six of the eight,
according to a news release from the Department of Justice. The other two
have not been located but their airport identification cards have been
confiscated and deactivated.

The screening included checks for prior felony arrests, false statements on
applications, fictitious Social Security numbers and other indications of
potential security risks or fraud.

U.S. Atty. Margaret Curran said, "Those results demonstrate that overall,
the screening procedures for the hiring and oversight of staff and
contractors at Green Airport have been effective and that the system works."
