AIRPORT ON TIMEBOMB
United Kingdom - Glasgow Daily Record
AN airport used by thousands of visiting British tourists could be sitting
on a huge pile of hidden explosives.
Deciphered files of the former East German secret police - the Stasi -
reveal tons of Second World War munitions, and even entire fighter planes,
lie in a Nazi bunker complex beneath Schoenefeld airport in Berlin.
The airport is a major destination for scheduled and charter flights for
airlines, including Ryanair.
Authorities say the airport is safe but that the claims in the files - which
will take years to translate completely - will be thoroughly checked.
