Knoxville Airport Authority to Run Ads Counteracting Nashville Effort

KNOXVILLE (AP) -- Knoxville airport officials plan to spend more than a
$100,000 on radio advertisements to counteract ads out of Nashville.
The Knoxville Airport Authority voted Wednesday to run local newspaper,
radio and billboard ads.
It's a response to ads being run by Nashville International Airport
urging air travelers to drive to Nashville for lower fares.
Knoxville Airport Authority President Bill Marrison says the Nashville
ads violate a gentleman's agreement between the airports, and are
misleading to travelers.
Marrison says airfares out of Knoxville are competitive with those in
Nashville, and lower in some cases.
