National Guardsmen Posted At Albuquerque Airport
Security Tightens As War Enters Second Day
The Associated Press

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- New Mexico Air National Guardsmen are on duty at
Albuquerque's international airport. They're providing additional security
now that war has broken out in Iraq.

Chief Master Sergeant Allan Ludi says six guards will be working eight-hour
shifts, seven days a week. He says the Guardsmen have been told to be at the
airport for 45 days, but that could change.

The Guardsmen are wearing full camouflage uniforms and are carrying pistols.

Security also is beefed up at the state Capitol, where visitors are now
being greeted by state police officers. The officers are at long rows of
tables, where they are searching purses and briefcases.
