Incident causes evacuation of airport
Passenger avoids screening process
The Cincinnati (OH) Post
Some 4,000 people were evacuated for about two hours Sunday from the
Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport because of security
concerns in the international area.
After passing a metal detector, an unidentified passenger did not
participate in other screening procedures, prompting the evacuation about 2
p.m.
Thousands of passengers had to be rescreened before they were permitted to
take their flights.
People were permitted back in the airport shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday, said
airport spokesman Ted Bushelman.
All people in concourses A, B and C of Terminal 3 were evacuated.
Terminal 3, which handles Delta and Comair flights, is the busiest part of
the airport.
People in Terminals 1 and 2, however, did not have to evacuate.
Officials declined to say Sunday night whether an arrest had been made in
the security breach.
