Tri-Cities Airport: Free Socks for Shoe Checks
The Associated Press
BLOUNTVILLE (AP) -- If security officers at the Tri-Cities Regional Airport
check your shoes, you'll get free socks.
A Federal Transportation Security official at the airport in Tennessee's
northeast corner says it's a way of "cushioning the inconvenience" of the
inspections.
For a limited time, customers subjected to the random checks will receive a
pair of athletic socks made by Bristol Products.
Airport marketing director Melissa Thomas says officials know the random
shoe checks are annoying, even though they're necessary.
She says Tri-Cities can offer customer service bigger airports can't and the
free socks are a "thank you" to affected travelers.
