Ryanair attacks airport fee rise
United Kingdom - The London Financial Times

Ryanair, the Irish low-cost airline, yesterday attacked Manchester
airport for a near doubling of its landing charges and accused it of
"living in the dark ages and behaving like an old-fashioned, out-dated,
state monopoly". It said it had been forced to reduce frequencies and
raise prices on its Manchester-Dublin route from January 6 and would
switch capacity to Liverpool and Leeds-Bradford airports. "We are really
disappointed at the small-mindedness of Manchester airport management,"
said Michael Cawley, Ryanair commercial director.

Manchester airport said it had put new proposals to Ryanair to encourage
it to develop services, but they were "not acceptable to Ryanair. We
cannot give Ryanair introductory offers indefinitely". It had reduced
charges to airlines by 30 per cent over the past 10 years.
