British firm interested in US$500mn Toluca airport expansion

MEXICO CITY, (Crenica) -- British company Wiggins Group is trying to
take part in the construction of a second runway and the extension and
modernization of the Toluca international airport, in Estado de Mexico
with an investment of more than US$500 million.The company chairman
William Syson confirmed to state Governor Arturo Montiel Rojas Thursday
that his firm was interested in the project. Wiggins Group experts will
travel to Toluca this month to look at the technical issues involved.The
plan of the state government is to increase passenger traffic at the
airport to 60 million people per year."There is urgency in Mexico to
boost this airport and make it more competitive," said Montiel. He said
the project was "fundamental, not only for the development of the state,
but the whole center of the country."
