Schiphol to raise docking, landing fees from April 2003  


AMSTERDAM (AFX) - Amsterdam Airport Schiphol said it will raise its fees
for docking and take-offs and landings from April 1, 2003 in order to
offset higher investments in facilities. 

Docking tariffs are expected to rise at maximum an average 6 pct.
Take-off and landing fees will rise 4.5 pct from April, reversing the
cut from last year. 

Schiphol plans to invest 373 mln eur in aviation facilities next year,
up 70 mln eur from a year earlier. Furthermore security costs are
forecast to rise to 60 mln eur from 40 mln, while investments in
security increase to 62 mln eur from 46 mln. 

Airport tax for passengers with a local destination will rise to 11.85
eur from 10.89 from April 1. Airport security charges will rise to a
maximum 4.80 eur per passenger for those with local destinations from
4.40 eur currently. 

>From January 1, Schiphol will takeover certain security tasks from the
Dutch government. As a result the government charge of 5.35 eur per
passenger will end. In its place Schiphol hopes to introduce a charge of
6.00 eur per passenger for those with local destinations. 

Schiphol will discuss the proposed tariff changes with carriers before
finalising the plans. The tariffs also remain subject to approval by the
transport ministry.
