PRI suggests airports should pay taxes
Mexico - El Economista

MEXICO CITY, -- Members of the Institutional Revolution Party (PRI) have
presented a proposal that taxes be charged to the 34 airports in Mexico
operating under concessions; currently they do not pay municipal taxes.
Deputy Raymundo G-mez Flores asked the federal government to intervene
to force Asur, Grupo Aeroportuario del Pac-fico and Grupo Aeroportuario
CentroNorte to pay taxes. "The municipalities have lived in permanent
conflict with the airports located within their borders, since they
refuse to pay taxes, construction licenses, inspection fees and rights
to drinking water and sewer services," G-mez said. The concessionaires
say that legally they do not have to pay for these services, among
others, as stipulated by Article 3 of the Airport Law and Article 115 of
the Constitution's fourth section.
