Abu Dhabi airport wins ISO certificate
Gulf News, United Arab Emirates

Abu Dhabi - The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), including Abu Dhabi
International Airport (ADIA), has received another ISO certificate for
its contribution to environmental awareness and conservation.

The DCA received the Environment Management Systems Certificate ISO
14001 from the International Standards Organisation, executed by AIB
Vincotte International SA.

Recently the ADIA received the ISO 2000-9001 Quality Management Systems
certificate.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of
Civil Aviation, said: "This has been a tremendous achievement for all
the management and staff of the different sectors within the airport to
work together in order to integrate the airport's operations into a
cohesive entity.

Sheikh Hamdan added that this achievement comes as a result of the hard
work the DCA team has been putting in to get the ISO certification over
the past years.

"This work will never come to an end because it is a continuous process
of improvement, development and offering the highest level of commitment
to the quality of services.

"Abu Dhabi International Airport has always led the way in providing
first class services and facilities to our passengers, coming up with
innovative ideas for services to make travel easier and a hassle-free
experience.

"With this new qualification, our passengers know that they are
guaranteed a quality service whenever they use any of the services at
the Abu Dhabi International Airport.

"Secondly, we wanted to show the world, and the travel industry in
particular, that the ADIA leads by example and offers the highest level
of quality service along with corporate responsibility for environmental
management."

Sheikh Hamdan said the achievement of the ISO qualification is an
effective marketing tool helping to promote the airport throughout the
global travel industry.

"This qualification guarantees the highest level of services and
facilities at the airport, and the flexibility of those services to meet
the expected growth of passengers in the next few years."

Jay Ginckels, country manager of the company in the UAE, said: "To my
knowledge, Abu Dhabi International Airport is unique in the world and
certainly in the Middle East, in that the organisation has not only
obtained certification against ISO 9001:2000 for quality and ISO 14001
for environment, but that the Integrated Management System covers both
their own departments and the external companies and organisations with
activities at the airport's premises."
