Sydney Airport accused of favouring Qantas
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation

The owners of Sydney Airport have been accused of mismanaging the former
Ansett terminal after Qantas revealed it has access to 12 of the
terminal's 19 gates.

Qantas has moved into the facility today as part of a long-term
agreement with the Sydney Airport's Corporation, which initially
provided the airline with six gates.

Rival Virgin Blue, which is also seeking access to the terminal, says
the airport operators are not interested in keeping the industry
competitive.

Virgin Blue's David Huttner has urged Australia's competition watchdog
to intervene.

"We think the best mechanism for the Government to act is through the
ACCC and so we hope the Government encourages the ACCC to take a good
hard look at this case, because what Sydney Airport says and what they
do appears to be two different things," he said.
