No scissors for ceremony
The Pittsburgh (PA) Post-Gazette

A huge replica of Tyrannosaurus rex was dedicated at Pittsburgh
International Airport yesterday, but when it came time to cut the
ribbon, officials could have used some help from the dinosaur's massive
teeth.

Security concerns prevented Allegheny County Chief Executive Jim Roddey
and officials from the airport authority and the Carnegie Museum from
using scissors.

So they slowly ripped the ribbon apart.

Last year's terrorist attacks prompted heightened security concerns,
especially in the airside terminal where the dino replica has been
erected. In fact, reporters had to make special arrangements to attend
the ceremony because normally only ticketed passengers are allowed in
the airside terminal.

T-rex is intended as a way to promote the Pittsburgh region's
attractions, including the Carnegie's dinosaur collection, which is one
of the first and largest in the country.
