Airport panel sets budget hearing
By JOHN McMILLAN
The Baton Rouge (LA) Advocate
GONZALES -- The Louisiana Regional Airport Authority board voted Tuesday to
hold a public hearing July 23 on its 2002-2003 budget.
Treasurer Jerry Thibeau said the increased size of the budget makes the
public hearing necessary.
In addition to the annual budget of $73,600, the authority has received a
$1,070,000 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration for construction
of hangars and runway aprons at the facility on Loose Moore Road. The
authority also approved a contract with Aviation Specialist Inc. to oversee
the construction.
That firm is owned by Airport Manager Harry Stafford and Assistant Manager
Mickey Marchand. The contract calls for a payment of $40 per hour and a
maximum payment of $45,000. Stafford said a safety program is being
developed for use during the construction of the hangars and aprons.
During June, the airport's revenues were $10,028 and its expenses were
$13,608, Thibeau reported.
