Local Airports Prepare For Changing Of The Guard
The San Diego (CA) Daily Transcript
National Guard troops will be moving out and local law enforcement will
be moving in to take their place, 10News reported.
The Transportation Security Administration announced that airports have
until April 30 to arrange for law enforcement officers such as police,
state troopers or sheriff's deputies to take over, according to 10News.
They will stand guard at the security screening stations.
Eventually, the government will station federal law enforcement officers
at the airports, but until then, the government will reimburse airports
for the officers' salaries, 10News reported.
National Guard troops have been stationed at San Diego airports since
October. There are about 60 national guardsmen and women providing
security at Lindbergh Field and about 10 at Palomar airport.
