KOREA'S INCHEON AIRPORT COST COMPETITIVE: BRITISH STUDY
AsiaPulse

Incheon International Airport (IIA) has been found highly
cost-competitive among the world's major international airports, the
Korea Transport Institute said Friday, citing a report by Cranfield
University in England.

The report showed that IIA ranked 23rd out of 30 leading international
airports in terms of airport costs both per person and per plane.

With the Boeing 747 as a standard, IIA's total airport expenses per
plane amounted to US$7397, about half the figure for New York ($29,283),
Los Angeles ($19,582), Moscow ($18,815) and Tokyo ($15,852), the report
said.

In costs per passenger, Incheon airport ranked 22nd at $22, also much
less than those for airports in New York ($87), Moscow ($56), London
($54), and Tokyo ($49).

Airport costs were divided into taxes, traveler-related expenses, and
airport fees.

"Incheon International Airport's utilization costs are very cheap since
we planned from the beginning to make them much lower compared to rival
airports in Tokyo and Hong Kong," an institute source said.
