2nd Narita runway, for mid-sized aircraft, to open April 18
Japan - Kyodo News
TOKYO, - Japan informed other countries Thursday that a second runway at
Narita airport, Japan's main international gateway east of Tokyo, will
open April 18 for use by medium-sized aircraft.
The Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry announced the opening of
the 2,180-meter second runway in the Aeronautical Information
The runway will mainly accommodate medium-sized passenger jets,
including Boeing 767s and Airbus A300s, for domestic flights and
short-hall overseas flights linking Narita and Asian countries.
The runway is too short for use by jumbo jets due to continuing
opposition to its construction by a landowner at the southern end.
