Airline Industry News Roundup
Korean Air will suspend its flights to Cairo, Egypt from Incheon airport
if the United States launches an attack on Afghanistan. Depending on the
situation the airline may also readjust its flight service from Incheon
to Frankfurt, Germany via Tashkent, Uzbekistan, reported AsiaPulse.
The US Federal Aviation Administration is checking whether a suspected
terrorist took a tour of the control tower at Logan International
Airport in Boston three days before the terrorist attacks in the US. The
FAA apparently initiated an internal investigation after receiving a
tip. Everyone who worked at the tower must be interviewed as there is no
visitor log or security video, reported The Associated Press.
Singapore Airlines resumed all its flights into and out of the United
States on 17 September. The US authorities reportedly gave the airline
clearance to resume the flights over the weekend.
All airports in Thailand will now enforce flight passenger
identification checks in order to increase airport security and minimize
the possibility of hijacking and terrorist attacks. This reverses a
policy announced by the Airport Authority of Thailand last month that
ticketed passengers could not have their identification checked without
good cause, according to the Nation, a local newspaper.
