SWAAAE: Airport News, "Japan to Charge ATC Fees for Flights Over the Country"

JAPAN TO CHARGE ATC FEES FOR FLIGHTS OVER THE COUNTRY
AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION: The Japanese Transport Ministry has announced
that it will commence charging air traffic control fees on aircraft flying
over or near Japan from January 2000. Airlines will have to pay 89,000 yen
for each aircraft using Japan's aviation control information and 16,000 yen
for each aircraft passing through a control area where this information is
less accessible. To offset the charging of passage fees the Ministry will
reduce airport landing fees by 4%.
